Welcome to Pavilion Bowls Club.
We are a well established, friendly lawn bowls club in South Oxhey, formed in 1974 by local residents, we proudly celebrated our golden anniversary throughout 2024.
We provide an activity and facility for members of the local community to enjoy, from 12 years old and upwards.
Our playing season is mid-April to late September, with bowlers benefitting from the social and fitness aspect of the game and the chance to meet and make new friends.
We play friendly matches against other clubs throughout Hertfordshire. As well as holding internal club competitions, and ‘roll ups’ (relaxed and informal bowls games), which are on Monday and Friday evenings, weather permitting.
We have a program of social events during the summer, including fun days, barbeques and indoor activities such as Knit & Natter, which takes place on Thursday afternoons. See our calendar for up to date information.
During the winter months the game of carpet bowls, (a miniature version of lawn bowls) is played indoors, along with quizzes, darts and bingo nights.
At the end of the bowling year, we celebrate our member bowlers’ achievements in their internal club competitions with a dinner and dance evening.
We have a licensed bar at the club, and other refreshments are available.
We are always happy to welcome new members, from complete beginners to those who have played before.
With no entry fee and a modest subscription, few other sports can match bowls in providing so much playing time and social activity for so little outlay.
Pavilion Bowls Club is affiliated to Bowls England, W&DBA, W&DLBA and Hertfordshire BA.
So come along and give it a go.

Our team is called Pavilion Lawn Bowls.
During the bowls season we play outdoor lawn bowls. Off season there are a variety of fun options. Including indoor bowls, knit and natter and general get togethers.
We have practices twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays.
Yes! We are on a single level access, with a ramp leading up to the club house. For those wishing to play, we can provide steps onto the green.
There is ample room for parking disability scooters. The path leading to our club is not owned by us, and is uneven in places.
There is no age limit to playing in-house friendly games but to be a club member and play in inter club matches, you need to be over 16.
Initially none. All you need is a good pair of flat shoes that won't damage the green. We have plenty of spare bowls for you to try out. if you decide to become a member and play in matches, you'll need to wear regulation whites for weekend games, or greys for weekday games.
If you decide to purchase your own woods (bowls) ask around as members will know the best places to get great deals.
Of course, we have a spectator area, as well as benches around the green. We also have a bar area where drinks can be purchased.
